    Biomedical Waste

HESI is a full service provider of regulated biomedical waste services including collection, transportation, processing and disposal with operations dating back to 1977.  We serve a broad base of customers including but not limited to medical centers, clinics, long-term care facilities, dental practices, funeral homes, universities and other biomedical research operations, veterinary clinics, dialysis centers, tattoo shops, law enforcement agencies and pharmacies.

    Facility Operations

At our company headquarters in Fargo, ND we operate a US EPA Title V infectious waste incinerator on a 24/7 basis with a capacity of 1,200 pounds per hour and operating approximately 50 weeks per year.  This plant serves customers from many parts of the United States and Canada.

In Valley City, ND we operate a medical waste autoclave using high temperature steam under vacuum conditions to render waste materials non-infectious.

Each facility is regulated by way of a solid waste operating permit issued through the North Dakota Department of Health.

    Collection and Transportation

Biomedical waste is required by regulation to be moved on public roadways by a permitted infectious waste transporter.  HESI operates a fleet of collection vehicles permitted through the North Dakota Department of Health and equivalent agencies in neighboring states.

Our collection service area includes all of North Dakota, NW Minnesota and NE South Dakota.

    Why Choose HESI?

We understand the importance of proper management of biomedical waste materials and the liability that can be associated with improper practices.   As with any waste material the original generator is always responsible for proper disposal through the concept of “cradle to grave”.  HESI staff takes its role in this process very seriously and ensures our customers’ “generators” liability is protected at all times through regulatory compliant transportation, processing and disposal procedures.
